Save the Date | International Workshop on Youth Organizing

The International Workshop on Youth Organizing will take place from May 19 to 21 in Groningen. This event is designed to function both as a high-level academic gathering and as a living experiment in participatory ethics of care. By positioning queer youth as co-researchers, organizers, and producers of knowledge, the workshop seeks to disrupt traditional hierarchical knowledge production regarding youth politics, well-being, and community building.

Three Tracks for Intergenerational Participation

This youth-led international workshop welcomes participants of all ages across three specialized tracks:

  • Community Organizers Track: This track is intended for those organizing protests, leading youth groups, or advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights, trans healthcare, and anti-bullying measures. It also encompasses activists working on climate justice, anti-racism, migrant justice, and human rights. Furthermore, it invites experienced organizers committed to supporting youth leadership and fostering intergenerational dialogues within social movements.

  • Research & Citizen Science Track: Aimed at young people co-leading research projects and researchers utilizing participatory methods where youth hold decision-making power in study design and data analysis. This track specifically encourages participation from individuals with refugee backgrounds who are interested in exploring pathways into academia.

  • Artists using Art as Politics Track: Designed for creators using poetry, murals, music, zines, or digital art to challenge oppression and amplify youth narratives. It also calls upon art educators and researchers interested in participatory pedagogy and artistic methodologies for community-building projects.
